Organization members

How admins invite people, choose roles, remove access, and rename the organization, and how members change their own name.

Last updated October 6, 2026View as Markdown

Organization admins manage who belongs to their Skillsail organization in Settings → Members. Admins and members work on the same courses, and everyone in the organization shares its credits.

Who can manage members

Only organization admins see Organization and Members in Settings. Other members cannot open those pages, invite people, change roles, or rename the organization.

Roles

Settings → Members assigns one of two roles:

  • Admin: manages the organization, including its name, members, invitations, and deletion. Admins also receive the Manage billing permission by default, which opens Billing and Usage.
  • Member: creates, edits, publishes, and exports courses, but cannot change organization settings or members.

Both roles can work on every course in the organization. Your organization can also have roles set up outside Skillsail, such as a role that only manages billing, and the members list shows those by name. See Usage and billing for who can manage plans and payments.

Open the members page

  1. Sign in to Skillsail.
  2. Open Settings from the account menu.
  3. Select Members under Organization in the settings navigation.

You can also go directly to skillsail.com/settings/members.

The page lists current members with their role and when they were last active, or that they have not signed in yet. Pending invitations show when they were sent and when they expire.

Invite a member

  1. Under Invite by email, enter the person's email address.
  2. Choose Admin or Member. New invitations start as Member.
  3. Select Invite.

Skillsail sends the invitation by email in your app language. The person joins your organization when they accept it and sign in.

You cannot invite someone who is already a member or who already has a pending invitation. Resend the existing invitation instead.

Resend or revoke an invitation

Each pending invitation has two actions:

  • Resend invitation sends the invitation email again.
  • Revoke invitation stops the invitation from working. Skillsail asks you to confirm first.

Expired invitations disappear from the list. To invite that person again, send a new invitation.

Change a role

Choose a new role in the member's row. Skillsail saves the change immediately and confirms it.

Remove a member

Select Remove member in the member's row and confirm. The person loses access to the organization right away. Courses they worked on stay in the organization, and you can invite them again at any time.

Rename the organization

Admins can rename the organization in Settings → Organization: enter the new name under Organization name and select Save. Use 2 to 80 characters: letters, numbers, spaces, and . , ' - & ( ). The new name appears in Skillsail right away. Invoices keep the organization name from when billing was first set up.

Change your name

Every member can change their first and last name in Settings → General under Your name. Both are required, with up to 80 characters each. The new name appears right away, for example in the sidebar. If your organization uses single sign-on (SSO) or directory sync, your identity provider may later replace it.

Your own membership

You cannot change your own role or remove yourself, so an organization is never left without an admin by accident. Another admin can change your role or remove you. To close the whole organization, see Deleting an organization.
