AI assistants (MCP)

Skillsail can be used directly from a compatible AI assistant. In Claude, you connect Skillsail from the connectors directory in a few clicks. In ChatGPT, open Skillsail's public plugin listing and connect it in a few clicks. Cursor and other compatible clients can connect through MCP. Once connected, you can ask the assistant to create modules, add slides, generate images, translate content, publish a module, and export it for your LMS, all from the assistant's chat. You do not need a Skillsail account beforehand: you can create one in the sign-in window that opens when you connect, and your workspace is set up automatically.

This is useful when you want to:

• Build a module while you are already chatting with your assistant about the topic.
• Keep editing a Skillsail module without switching tabs.
• Have the assistant handle bulk tasks like translating into several languages or rewriting a series of slides at once.

Choose how to connect

• Claude — open the Skillsail listing in Claude's connectors directory and click Connect. The connection guide walks through the steps.
• ChatGPT — open the Skillsail plugin listing in ChatGPT and add the plugin. If your workspace restricts plugins, the connection guide also explains the manual custom connector setup.
• Cursor or another MCP client — install the Skillsail Agent Plugin, or add Skillsail as an online MCP connection using the address in the connection guide.

How it works

When you connect an AI assistant to Skillsail, you can ask it to work with your Skillsail content — for example create a module, add a slide, translate into German, publish as a template, or export as SCORM. You ask in plain language; the assistant handles the matching Skillsail step for you.

For private content, Skillsail scopes the connection to the organization you sign in with. The assistant can also access public Skillsail templates when you ask it to copy one.

What you can ask the assistant to do

• Create a module from a description — "Build a 5-slide onboarding course for new hires with a 3-question quiz at the end."
• Add or change a single piece — "Add a slide on fire extinguisher classes after slide 3." / "Rewrite slide 2 to be more concise."
• Generate or replace media — "Add an image of an evacuation route to the first slide." / "Tighten the contrast on the image in slide 4."
• Translate — "Add German and Spanish to this module."
• Publish and share — "Make this module a template." / "Publish this module and preserve its existing passphrase."
• Export to your LMS — "Export this module as a SCORM 2004 package."
• Roll back — "Show me the previous versions of this module and restore the one from this morning."

Safety

• Skillsail checks each request from the assistant against the signed-in user and selected organization. The assistant cannot use the connection to read or change another organization's private content.
• Your assistant provider processes the conversation and the information exchanged with Skillsail under that provider's terms and privacy policy. Skillsail also uses service providers for requested features such as translation, image generation, and voiceover. See the Privacy Policy and Subprocessors for details.
• The assistant can make a module public when you explicitly ask it to publish or share. Changes such as deleting a module, restoring an older version, or removing a passphrase take effect immediately, so ask the assistant to confirm before it acts.

Good practices

• Be specific about which module you mean. "The onboarding module I created yesterday" or pasting the module's link both work well.
• Ask for a summary before bulk changes ("Show me a plan first, don't apply yet").
• Review the result. The assistant will report what it did; open Skillsail and skim the changes for anything that needs a human touch.
