What the assistant can do
Every Skillsail task your connected AI assistant can help with, grouped by the kind of work.
This page shows what a connected AI assistant can do in Skillsail. You do not need to memorize the list: ask in plain language, and the assistant will choose the appropriate action.
Support for chat attachments and file uploads varies between assistants. Attaching a file to an assistant's chat does not necessarily store that file in Skillsail. The assistant also cannot read your old Skillsail authoring chats; it works with the modules, files, versions, and settings that Skillsail makes available through the connection.
Checking the connection
Check Skillsail is connected
Confirms that the assistant has a working connection to the Skillsail organization you selected.
Ask things like: "Are you connected to Skillsail?" / "Is the Skillsail connection working?"
Modules
List your modules
Shows your modules and can search for one by name.
Ask things like: "List my Skillsail modules." / "Find the onboarding module."
Create a module
Creates a new, empty module with a title and starting language.
Ask things like: "Create a new module called 'First day safety basics' in English."
Open a module
Shows the module's current content and settings so the assistant can review them before making changes. This does not give the assistant access to old Skillsail authoring conversations.
Ask things like: "Show me what's in 'Phishing 101'."
Rename a module or change its link
Changes the module title or the final part of its shareable link.
Ask things like: "Rename this module to 'Onboarding 2026'."
Delete a module
Permanently deletes a module, including its content, media, and saved versions.
Ask things like: "Delete the 'Old test course' module."
Slides, questions, and activities
New or edited content is written in the module's source language and then synchronized automatically to every other configured language. The tool result lists any failed or revision-conflicted languages so you can retry them. When a module already uses voiceover, a new slide also receives per-language narration and audio after all translations finish.
Editing a slide does not re-record its narration. The result of an edit lists the languages whose narration was recorded from the earlier text, and inspecting a slide reports the same. Treat it as a note that the text moved on rather than a fault, since a typo fix usually leaves the narration usable, and ask for a new voiceover only when you want one: regenerating re-records every configured language and consumes usage credits.
Add a slide
Adds a content slide at the position you choose. The assistant can select a responsive stacked, split, or gallery layout when the content benefits from it.
Ask things like: "Add a slide on evacuation routes after slide 3."
Add a quiz question
Adds a graded multiple-choice, image-choice, pick-a-side, multiple-response, fill-in-the-blank, rich cloze, matching, or hotspot question with bounded answers and optional feedback. Media-rich formats use managed image slots so the same assets appear in preview and package exports.
Ask things like: "Add a quiz question about extinguisher classes with four options."
Add an interactive activity
Adds a flexible practice activity such as a game, scenario, flash-card drill, or sorting exercise. See Interactive content.
Ask things like: "Add a phishing detection game with three example messages."
Attach an image to an activity
Attaches an uploaded JPEG or PNG to a managed image slot in a labeled graphic, guided screenshot simulation, image carousel, text-over-image activity, spatial drag-and-drop, before-and-after comparison, or dialogue scene. The same component-owned image is used in preview and packaged exports.
Ask things like: "Use the machine photo I uploaded for the labeled graphic."
Attach an image to a question
The set_question_image action attaches an uploaded JPEG or PNG to a question prompt, hotspot image, or image-choice option. The assistant targets a bounded slot and cannot write or reuse an arbitrary media ID.
Ask things like: "Use the uploaded control-panel photo for the hotspot question."
Attach a learner download
The set_activity_attachment action attaches an uploaded PDF, DOCX, XLSX, or PPTX file to a download activity. Skillsail stores a module-owned copy and includes it in HTML5, SCORM, xAPI, and cmi5 exports.
Ask things like: "Attach the inspection checklist to the download card."
Remove managed component media
The remove_activity_image, remove_question_image, and remove_activity_attachment actions clear one bounded managed-media slot across every current language version. They do not accept arbitrary asset IDs, and attachment removal leaves an external HTTPS download unchanged.
Ask things like: "Remove the old machine photo from the comparison activity."
Edit a slide, question, or activity
Changes an existing item in the source language and automatically refreshes the other configured language versions. Slide edits can add ordered video caption cues and a transcript label plus transcript; those strings are localized with the slide.
When replacing a slide video, set_slide_video accepts an accessibility policy. preserve keeps the current localized captions and transcript; clear removes them atomically from every language version when they no longer describe the replacement.
Ask things like: "Rewrite slide 2 to be more concise."
Delete a slide, question, or activity
Removes one item from the module.
Ask things like: "Delete the placeholder slide I added earlier, but ask me to confirm first."
Reorder content
Moves one item or rearranges the complete module.
Ask things like: "Move the summary slide to the end."
Inspect one item
Shows a particular slide, question, or activity in one language or in all available languages.
Ask things like: "What does slide 4 say in German?"
List module content
Shows all slides, questions, and activities in learner order. This is useful before larger changes.
Ask things like: "List the slides and questions in this module."
Languages, theme, and completion
Set languages
Chooses the module's source language, available learner languages, and learner-facing default language. The source language and learner default can be different. Skillsail fills in missing translations from the available source content.
Ask things like: "Keep English as the source, add German and Spanish, and make German the learner default."
Update the theme
Changes the module's brand color, optional accent color, and body-font preset. Skillsail derives accessible control, hover, focus, and supporting colors.
Ask things like: "Make this module forest green with a humanist sans font."
Set completion rules
Chooses whether learners complete the module by viewing everything or by reaching a passing quiz score.
Ask things like: "Set this module to score-based completion at 80%."
The connected assistant can configure these rules, but it cannot enroll learners or read completion results from your LMS.
Sharing and templates
Change how a module is shared
A single sharing action covers publishing, public or private visibility, template status, and review comments; the assistant passes only the settings that should change. Publishing a normal public link again keeps an existing passphrase. Making a module private immediately removes public access and turns off template status, the sharing passphrase, and review comments. Template status and the passphrase stay off when you publish again, but review comments come back on unless you turn them off in the same request. The settings are connected, so a change can turn another one off: a template is always public, never passphrase protected, and never collects review comments. The assistant reports anything a change turned off.
Ask things like: "Publish this module." / "Mark this module as a template after I confirm." / "Make this module private again, but ask me to confirm first."
Turn review comments on or off
Controls whether people with the share link can leave review comments. Sharing turns comments on by default. Publishing a module that was private turns comments on, even if you had turned them off before; republishing a module that is already public keeps your earlier choice. Ask the assistant to turn comments off, or use the Collect review comments switch in the web app. A template never collects review comments, and a private module has no share link to comment on.
Ask things like: "Publish this module with review comments turned off." / "Turn review comments back on for the onboarding module."
Remove a passphrase
Removes an existing sharing passphrase, which makes a public module accessible without it.
Ask things like: "Remove the passphrase from this module, but ask me to confirm first."
Copy a template
Copies a public template into your organization as a new private module.
Ask things like: "Copy this template into my workspace."
Review comments
Read review comments
Reads the feedback left on one of your modules through its review link: which slide each comment is about, the excerpt captured when the comment was written, and whether that slide still exists or has been replaced since.
Ask things like: "What did the reviewers say about the onboarding module?" / "Summarize the open review comments and group them by slide."
Reply to a review thread
Posts a reply on one of the module's review threads when you ask for it. The reply appears under your own name as the module owner, so reviewers read it as coming from you. A typical flow is to fix the content first, then reply to say what changed. You can delete a posted reply in the Skillsail web app.
Ask things like: "Reply to the comment on slide 3 that the statistic is updated."
Resolve or reopen a review thread
Marks a review thread as resolved once its feedback is handled, or reopens it when the work turns out to be unfinished. Resolving is always reversible.
Ask things like: "Resolve the thread about the typo on slide 2." / "Reopen the thread about the intro video."
Versions
List saved versions
Shows the saved versions of a module, with the newest first.
Ask things like: "Show me the saved versions of this module."
Restore a saved version
Replaces the current module with a previously saved version.
Ask things like: "Show me the version from this morning and wait for my confirmation before restoring it."
Resources and file uploads
File support depends on the connected assistant. A chat attachment may be readable by the assistant without being uploaded to Skillsail, and some assistants cannot transfer attached files to Skillsail at all.
For a supported upload, the assistant can guide you through three user-facing steps: start the Skillsail upload, transfer the file using the method the assistant offers, and ask Skillsail to check and process it. Small files may be transferred in one step. Invalid files are rejected and removed.
Start a file upload
Prepares Skillsail to receive a document, Markdown source, image, or video.
Ask things like: "Help me upload the new safety handbook to Skillsail and tell me what to do next."
Upload a small file
Transfers a supported small file directly when the connected assistant can access it.
Markdown uploads are source material for authoring. They cannot be placed in learner download or media slots.
Ask things like: "If you can access this PNG, upload it to Skillsail."
Check and process an uploaded file
Confirms that the file is valid. Skillsail can also extract text from Markdown, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint sources so it can be used as source material.
Ask things like: "Check the handbook I uploaded and prepare it for use in a module."
Get a private download link
Creates a private link for a processed file. The link expires after two hours.
Ask things like: "Give me a download link for the safety handbook I uploaded."
Delete a resource
Permanently removes an uploaded file from the organization.
Ask things like: "Delete the old safety handbook upload after I confirm."
Media on slides
Set or remove the module logo
Uses an uploaded image as the module logo or removes the current logo. Skillsail keeps media that is still needed by current content or a saved version.
Ask things like: "Use the logo I uploaded as this module's logo." / "Remove the module logo."
Attach a video to a slide
Attaches a video you have already uploaded to a particular slide.
Ask things like: "Attach my uploaded intro video to slide 1."
The connected assistant cannot generate a new video. Use the Skillsail web app when you need video generation.
Generate a slide image
Creates one image from your description and adds it to a slide. The ordinary behavior replaces the existing image composition. For a comparison, sequence, set of examples, or visual recap, the assistant can preserve existing images and add more until the slide has up to four, using a responsive stacked, split, or gallery layout.
Ask things like: "Add an image of an evacuation route to slide 2." / "Turn slide 3 into a four-image gallery comparing distinct safe launch positions."
Every slide image opens in a larger view when a learner selects it; the assistant does not need to create or configure a separate lightbox. To start the composition over, ask it to replace the slide images. Removing or reordering one image within a composition is not currently available through the connection.
Edit a slide image
Creates an edited version of an image already used in the selected module and updates that image on its slide while preserving the other images in the composition.
Ask things like: "Make the image on slide 2 more high-contrast."
Generate slide voiceover
Creates narration for each configured module language, using the slide text unless you provide a different script. This uses the organization's existing Skillsail allowance.
Ask things like: "Generate narration for slide 4." / "Use this script as the narration for slide 4: ..."
Building from a prompt
Build a module from a description
The assistant can plan a draft, create the module, and add its slides and questions. If the assistant can read a source file, it may use the file's content for the draft; this does not mean the file has been stored in Skillsail.
Ask things like: "Build me a module about customer service basics with a four-question quiz."
Use this for an initial draft. For follow-up edits, describe the specific change you want.
Exporting
Export a module
Creates a SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, or cmi5 package for an LMS, or a standalone HTML5 package for a web server.
Ask things like: "Export this module as a SCORM 2004 package." / "Export this module as a cmi5 package."
The private download link expires after two hours. Exporting a package does not enroll learners, upload the package to your LMS, or give the assistant access to LMS completion results.
