Skillsail is now available as a ChatGPT plugin

You can now add Skillsail directly from its public ChatGPT plugin listing and work with your training modules from ChatGPT without turning on developer mode or pasting an MCP address. Sign in with your existing Skillsail account, or create one during setup, choose your organization, and ask ChatGPT to create, edit, translate, publish, or export your modules.

Managed ChatGPT workspaces may require an administrator to approve the plugin. The connection guide also keeps the manual custom connector setup available as a fallback.

Upload Markdown as source material

You can now attach Markdown (.md) files as source material when you start a module or continue in chat. Skillsail reads the text so you can ask the assistant to turn notes, briefs, or existing outlines into a learning module.

• On the homepage, attach one Markdown file up to 2 MB. Other supported documents and images remain up to 20 MB
• In chat, attach Markdown alongside your other source files
• Markdown is authoring source only. Learner downloads in a published module stay limited to PDF, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Review comments on by default when sharing

Sharing a module now turns review comments on by default. Reviewers can still leave comments on the share link without creating an account. Authors who want a delivery-only link can turn comments off with the Collect review comments switch in share settings. Existing public shares that already have comments off stay off. Live component gallery and complete authoring reference

The interactive content guide now includes a live gallery that lets authors try representative learner components directly in the documentation. The same page provides a component-by-component reference for all 22 purpose-built interactive activities, six native slide designs, and eight graded question formats, including clear guidance on scoring, LMS reporting, exports, and how to ask the Skillsail assistant for each kind of experience.

Native presentation slide designs

Static statements, semantic notes, quotations, section-opening heroes, two-column comparisons, and text-over-image compositions are now native slide designs rather than interactive activities. They use the normal slide translation, managed-media, voiceover, preview, and export lifecycle. Existing modules that used the earlier JSON Render presentation blocks remain playable, while assistants now author new presentation-only content through the slide tools.

The design contract contains only bounded structural choices. Labels, attributions, sources, and both columns remain ordinary localized slide text, and image overlays use a single managed slide image that is included in HTML5, SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, and cmi5 packages.

More visual interactions, accessible media, and scored question types

Skillsail modules can now use labeled graphics, guided screenshot simulations, accessible bar and pie charts, multiple-choice practice, navigation button stacks, sandboxed web embeds, and learner download cards. Advanced managed image and quotation carousels are available when visiting a deliberate sequence in one interaction is essential. Uploaded images for visual activities are managed by Skillsail, shared across language versions, and packaged into module exports.

The activity catalog now also includes spatial drag-and-drop practice over a managed image, before-and-after image comparisons, and scenarios that support either a simple card or managed backgrounds and character portraits. Static statements, notes, quotations, section openers, two-column copy, and image overlays use native slide designs rather than pretending that presentation content is an interaction.

Graded questions now also support multiple-response, fill-in-the-blank, matching, image-choice, multi-region hotspot, and rich multi-blank cloze formats. Image-choice and hotspot questions use managed images in preview and packaged exports, while hotspot regions remain operable through both the image overlay and an equivalent keyboard-friendly choice list. Every format uses the same score, passing threshold, retake, and resume flow as existing multiple-choice and pick-a-side questions; typed fill and cloze resume data stores only whether the submitted answer was correct, not the learner's text.

Uploaded PDF, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files can become package-local learner downloads instead of network-only links. Slide videos can carry ordered captions and a localized transcript in both full-screen and content layouts. These accessibility and download assets travel with standalone and LMS packages.

Managed activity images, question images, and learner downloads can now be removed safely across every language version. Video replacement can explicitly preserve or clear earlier captions and transcripts, and visual questions and spatial placement controls now provide stronger accessible fallback and state information.

The new components use the shared responsive player in editor preview, public modules, standalone HTML5, SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, and cmi5 packages. They are also available to the Skillsail EVE agent and connected MCP assistants through bounded authoring contracts.

Ten new purpose-built learning interactions

Interactive activity slides now include dedicated process steppers, timelines, matching pairs, sequence builders, scenarios, flashcards, multiple-response practice, fill-in-the-blank practice, private guided reflections, and checklists. Each activity has a bounded authoring schema, keyboard-accessible controls, responsive learner rendering, and localized learner-facing copy.

The same activities are available to the Skillsail EVE agent and connected MCP assistants, and they use the shared player in preview, public modules, standalone HTML5, SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, and cmi5 exports. Practice activity answers remain local and unscored; use a standard question when the result must affect the module's passing score.

Review comments for shared modules

Public modules can now collect review comments directly on individual slides. Reviewers can join with a display name, leave threaded feedback, edit or delete their own comments, and follow resolved discussions without creating an account. Authors can reply, resolve or reopen threads, and keep the full comment history even when comments are turned off or a slide is deleted.

Turn comments on or off in the module's share settings. The Skillsail assistant and connected MCP assistants can also read feedback, reply in the module owner's name, resolve or reopen threads, and update visibility, template status, passphrase removal, and comment collection together in one confirmed sharing change. Microsoft Teams: chat with your assistant in Teams

The Skillsail assistant is now available in Microsoft Teams. Send it a personal message, or mention @Skillsail in a team channel and it replies in a thread on your message. Connect your account from Settings → Agent channels with a one-click link that prefills the connect message in Teams — see Use Skillsail in Microsoft Teams to get started.

More flexible visual slides

Slides can now combine up to four generated images in responsive stacked, split, or gallery layouts. Learners can select any slide image to open a larger view, and the same layouts are available through the Skillsail assistant and connected MCP assistants.

PowerPoint imports now build learner-ready modules

Skillsail can now inspect and import selected slides or ranges from an uploaded .pptx without loading the entire presentation at once. By default, the assistant turns the source ideas into concise, learner-focused course slides while preserving important facts, figures, quotations, and compliance language. You can ask for a close transcription when exact wording matters.

• Work with a whole deck, a range, or specific slide numbers, including large presentations processed in safe batches
• Use slide text and speaker notes, and reuse a suitable directly embedded image from each source slide
• Retry an interrupted import without duplicating the same course slides or repeating the same visual-analysis charge

The import rebuilds the material as an e-learning course; it does not reproduce PowerPoint animations, charts, SmartArt, vector artwork, master slides, backgrounds, or the complete visual composition. See Turn a PowerPoint into a module for the workflow and current limits.

Slack: chat with your assistant where your team works

The Skillsail assistant is now available in Slack. Message it in a DM, or invite it to a channel and mention it when you need it — the standout feature is threads: mention @Skillsail mid-discussion and it reads the thread's earlier replies before answering, so your team can talk through a process and then say "turn this into a training module" without repeating anything. Add the app to your workspace and connect your account, both from Settings → Agent channels — see Use Skillsail in Slack to get started.

Chat with your Skillsail assistant in Telegram

You can now connect your Telegram account to Skillsail and talk to your course assistant straight from your phone — create modules, edit slides, translate content, or send a photo or PDF to work into a course. Connect in Settings → Agent channels with a one-tap link, and add the bot to team group chats where it responds when mentioned. See Use Skillsail in Telegram to get started. Slack and Microsoft Teams support is on the way.

xAPI, cmi5, and standalone HTML5 export

Modules can now be exported as xAPI ("Tin Can") and cmi5 packages, alongside the existing SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 formats. Choose the standard in the publish dialog or when starting a new module — the exported package tracks completion, scores, and resume position through your LMS or Learning Record Store.

• xAPI packages send learner statements (attempted, passed, failed, completed) to your LRS and support bookmarking, so learners resume where they left off
• cmi5 packages follow the modern successor to SCORM, including launch-mode handling and mastery-score criteria from your module's completion settings
• Works with SCORM Cloud and any xAPI- or cmi5-conformant LMS

There is also a new standalone HTML5 export for teams without an LMS: a self-contained web package you can host on any web server. Learner progress — bookmark, quiz score, and completion — is stored in the learner's browser, so people still resume where they left off.

Billing controls on the usage page

Usage & Billing now brings plan status, shared monthly credits, plan options, billing settings, and recent usage into one place.

Free organizations can choose Plus or Pro from the page. Paid organizations can switch between Plus and Pro, see when the current plan renews or ends, and keep the current plan when a scheduled change can be canceled.

Expanded docs for course authors

The Skillsail docs now cover the parts of the product that come up most often when you are building a module. New sections:

• Concepts — modules and components, languages and translation, themes and completion, resources and media, sharing and templates, and saved versions.
• AI assistants (MCP) — connect an outside AI assistant to your Skillsail workspace, a plain-language list of everything the assistant can do, and recipes for common authoring jobs.

The pages are written for course authors and trainers — the people actually building modules.

Skillsail now has public documentation for connecting MCP-compatible AI assistants to your Skillsail workspace.

The guide explains how to connect an assistant, what kinds of training tasks it can help with, and what to check before publishing or sharing AI-assisted changes.

More free-form learning content

Skillsail can now create more open-ended learning experiences alongside the slide and question formats you already use. When a standard slide is not the right fit, you can ask for a learning game, branching scenario, checklist, decision exercise, flash-card activity, simulation-style practice, or another custom learning moment.

This gives you more room to describe the outcome you want instead of choosing a predefined template first. For example, you can ask Skillsail to create a quick phishing detection game, a safety decision tree, or a product knowledge practice activity, and Skillsail will build a self-contained experience for the module.
