Credits and Usage

This Credits and Usage page explains how Skillsail measures AI usage, applies monthly included allowances, and bills overage on paid plans. It is incorporated by reference into our Terms and Conditions.

We keep this page separate from the Terms so that current allowances, credit prices, and usage mechanics can be updated transparently in our checkout, billing, and plan displays as the product, AI models, and provider costs change.

1. What credits are

• Credits are internal usage units used to measure access to AI generation and translation features in Skillsail.
• Credits are owned by the Organization Account, shared by its Authorized Users, and consumed when users perform credit-consuming actions.
• Credits are not currency, legal tender, a stored value account, or a payment instrument. They have no cash value and are not redeemable, refundable, transferable, or exchangeable except where required by law.

2. Included credits

• Free starter allowance: a one-time grant of 1,500 credits for eligible new Organizations using the free tier. This allowance does not refresh. Existing starter grants are not reduced retroactively. Any unused starter credits expire when the Organization's first paid Subscription becomes active; an incomplete or unsuccessful checkout does not expire them.
• Plus: USD $20 per monthly billing period, including 1,500 credits. Additional usage is USD $22 per 1,000 credits ($0.022 per credit).
• Pro: USD $100 per monthly billing period, including 7,500 credits. Additional usage is USD $18 per 1,000 credits ($0.018 per credit).
• Enterprise: Custom usage allowance and commercial terms agreed with Skillsail.

Paid Plus and Pro included credits refresh once per billing period. Unused paid monthly included credits expire at the end of the applicable billing period and do not roll over unless we expressly state otherwise for a specific plan or offer.

Any historical top-up balance is separate from the starter and paid-plan allowances. It is preserved but not consumed during an active paid Stripe Managed Payments Subscription, does not offset metered usage, and becomes available again after that paid Subscription ends. Other free-tier included allowances retire with the starter allowance.

3. Paid-plan overage and invoices

• A paid self-service Subscription combines a fixed monthly charge with a metered usage charge. We measure usage in individual credits. Usage above the plan's included monthly allowance is overage.
• Overage is billed after the applicable monthly billing period ends. Paid self-service Subscriptions use Stripe Managed Payments. Its merchant of record charges and collects the fixed Subscription and overage amounts shown on the finalized invoice.
• An Organization administrator may turn off new usage beyond the included allowance or set an optional monetary overage cap. Overage is allowed without a cap by default. Turning overage off or reaching a configured cap stops new overage-producing actions, but does not reverse usage already incurred; completed usage and work already in progress remain billable.
• Free plans and trials cannot incur paid overage. Credit-consuming actions stop when their available allowance is exhausted.
• Any historical top-up balance is a separate application allowance. It is not consumed during a paid Stripe Managed Payments Subscription and does not reduce metered overage. Other free-tier included allowances retire with the starter allowance. Paid customer concessions are issued through Stripe.

In-product usage and charge amounts are running estimates. Meter processing, usage corrections, taxes, discounts, credits, and invoice finalization can change the amount due. The finalized Stripe invoice is the billing record for the applicable period.

An upgrade from Plus to Pro takes effect immediately. Stripe starts a fresh Pro billing cycle, applies its proration rules, closes the shortened Plus period, and applies a fresh Pro included allowance. A downgrade from Pro to Plus takes effect at the next renewal, so Pro pricing and allowances continue through the current period.

4. What consumes credits

• Text generation: weighted by token type: 1 credit per 1,000 input tokens, 4 credits per 1,000 output tokens, 1 credit per 1,000 cache-write tokens, and 0.25 credits per 1,000 cache-read tokens, rounded up once per model step.
• Web search: 8 credits per provider web-search call, charged separately from text generation tokens when web search is used.
• Image generation: 120 credits per generated image.
• Image editing: 100 credits per edited image.
• Video generation: 300 credits per generated second.
• Voiceover generation: Metered by generated character count and language count at 125 credits per 1,000 characters per language.
• Translation: 8 credits per 1,000 translated characters.

Text generation usage is based on total tokens reported by the model provider. Token totals can include system instructions, tool context, retrieved content, and model output in addition to the text entered by a user. Some actions are estimated before work begins and then settled using actual usage where available.

5. Examples

Any examples shown in checkout, plan materials, or in-product billing displays are illustrative estimates. Actual consumption depends on the request type, prompt and output length, web search call count, generated media duration, language count, and the current usage pricing.

6. Actions currently monitored but not charged

We currently monitor uploads, storage, export jobs, download URLs, and file parsing for operational visibility, but they do not separately consume credits. These actions may still be subject to fair use, technical limits, abuse prevention, or plan-specific restrictions.

7. When included credits run out

Active paid Plus and Pro Subscriptions can continue using credit-consuming features as metered overage when the Organization administrator allows it, subject to any administrator-set overage cap, payment status, technical limits, and abuse prevention. The free tier stops credit-consuming actions when its starter and any separate available historical top-up allowance are exhausted. Any unused starter allowance expires when the first paid Subscription becomes active and does not return if that Subscription later ends.

8. Changes to credits and usage

We may update this Credits and Usage page from time to time, including to reflect new AI models, provider pricing, product features, plan packaging, or abuse-prevention requirements. If a change materially reduces paid plan allowances during an active billing period, we will provide notice where required by law or where commercially reasonable.
