## What the player shows you

Everything an LMS would record, visible while you click through the course.

- ### Real course playback

The course runs in a sandboxed frame with a SCORM runtime, the way it launches in your LMS.

- ### Completion and pass/fail

Watch the completion and success status the course reports, the moment it reports them.

- ### Quiz scores

Check the score your quiz sends, so you know the LMS will record the right result.

- ### Every API call

A live log of every call the course makes, such as LMSInitialize, LMSSetValue, and LMSCommit, with the value returned.

- ### Saved progress data

See how much suspend data the course stores, and catch courses that exceed the 4,096-character limit of SCORM 1.2.

- ### Session summary

When the course closes, get its status, score, and session time, then restart it to test again.

## How to test a SCORM package without an LMS

1. 01

    ### Export your course as a ZIP

Publish a SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 package from your authoring tool, such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, iSpring, or Skillsail.

2. 02

    ### Drop the ZIP into the player

The package is unzipped and launched in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so confidential training stays on your device.

3. 03

    ### Complete the course and check the tracking

Complete the course as a learner would and check that completion, score, and progress show up in the log before you upload it to your LMS.

## Frequently asked questions

What is a SCORM player?ExpandCollapse

A SCORM player is software that launches a SCORM package and provides the runtime API the course uses to report progress, answers, and scores, the same role an LMS plays. This free player runs that runtime in your browser so you can preview a course and inspect its tracking data without an LMS.

How do I test a SCORM package without an LMS?ExpandCollapse

Drop the ZIP above. The player launches the course in a sandboxed frame, answers its SCORM API calls, and shows you completion status, score, and every API call live, exactly what an LMS would record.

Is my course content uploaded to your servers?ExpandCollapse

No. The package is unzipped and played entirely in your browser; files are served to the course from local browser storage and are cleared when you load another package. We only collect anonymous usage statistics, never your files or their contents.

Which standards does the player support?ExpandCollapse

Playback supports SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 (3rd and 4th Edition). xAPI and cmi5 packages are detected and can be checked with the validator; in-browser playback for them is on the roadmap.

How do I create a SCORM package?ExpandCollapse

You need an authoring tool that exports LMS-ready packages. Skillsail turns documents, slides, and PDFs into interactive courses with quizzes and translations, and exports them as SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, or cmi5, ready to upload to any LMS.

Why isn't my SCORM course recording completion?ExpandCollapse

Common causes are a course that never sets a completed or passed status, a completion trigger on a slide the learner never reaches, or a course that closes without calling LMSCommit or LMSFinish (Commit or Terminate in SCORM 2004). Play the course here and watch the log: if the status never changes, the problem is in the package, not in your LMS.

Can I test Articulate Storyline, Rise, or Adobe Captivate courses?ExpandCollapse

Yes. Courses exported as SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 ZIP files play here, whichever tool built them. Publish the package for an LMS in your authoring tool and drop the ZIP into the player.

What is the difference between the SCORM Player and the SCORM Validator?ExpandCollapse

The player runs your course and shows what it reports while you click through it. The validator checks the package structure, such as the manifest, launch file, and file references, and gives you a report to download. Use the validator when your LMS rejects an upload, and the player when the upload works but tracking does not.
