Skillsail for Slack

# Turn Slack conversations into training

Your team already explains processes, answers questions, and shares fixes in Slack. Mention your Skillsail assistant in a thread and it reads the discussion, then turns it into an interactive course you can refine and export for your LMS.

Mention the assistant at the end of a thread and it catches up on the discussion before it builds.

## How it works

Two quick setup steps, then it works wherever your team talks.

1. 01

    ### Add Skillsail to your workspace

In Skillsail, open Settings, then Agent channels, and add Skillsail to your Slack workspace. This is needed once per workspace.

2. 02

    ### Connect your account

Each teammate clicks Connect Slack and approves on Slack's consent screen. Modules stay in your own Skillsail organization.

3. 03

    ### Mention it in a thread

Invite the app to a channel and mention it in a thread. It reads the earlier replies, so you can say 'turn this discussion into a training module' without repeating anything.

## What you can do

The Skillsail assistant from the web app, available where your team already works.

- ### Turn threads into training

The assistant catches up on a thread's earlier replies when you mention it, then structures the discussion into slides and quiz questions.

- ### Create modules from a message

Describe the training you need in a direct message and get a complete draft back, with welcome and completion slides.

- ### Make quick edits

Ask for changes like 'shorten slide 3' or 'add a quiz question about ladder safety' without opening the web app.

- ### Send files

Attach an image or a PDF, such as a checklist or a policy, and have the assistant work it into your content.

- ### Translate courses

Request translations right from Slack and keep structure, media, and formatting intact.

- ### Export for your LMS

Every module lives in your Skillsail workspace, ready to publish or export as SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, cmi5, or HTML5.

## Frequently asked questions

Can Skillsail create courses from Slack?

Yes. Mention your Skillsail assistant in Slack or message it directly, and it creates and edits complete eLearning modules with slides, quiz questions, and activities. Everything is stored in your Skillsail workspace, where you can keep editing and export for your LMS.

How does the thread catch-up work?

When you mention the assistant in a thread, it reads that thread's earlier replies so it can answer with full context. If you mention it again later in the same thread, it only reads what is new since its last reply.

What can the assistant see in my workspace?

Only what you show it. It sees direct messages you send it and the threads where it is mentioned. It never reads other threads, other channels, or conversations where it is not mentioned.

How do I set up Skillsail in Slack?

In Skillsail, open Settings, then Agent channels. Add Skillsail to your Slack workspace once, then each teammate connects their own Slack account. The setup guide in our documentation walks through both steps.

Does every teammate need to connect their own account?

Yes. The workspace app is added once, and each person connects their Slack account so the assistant works in their own Skillsail organization and respects their access.

Do I need a Skillsail account?

Yes. The Slack assistant is part of Skillsail plans and works with the modules in your organization. Sign up, connect Slack in Settings, and start creating from your next thread.
