# Use Skillsail in Telegram

> Connect your Telegram account to Skillsail and chat with your AI course assistant from your phone: ask questions, create modules, and edit content on the go.

You can talk to your Skillsail assistant directly in Telegram — the same assistant that builds and edits your training modules in the web app. Once your Telegram account is connected, just send the Skillsail bot a message: ask it to create a module, rewrite a slide, add a quiz question, or check on your content while you're away from your desk.

This is useful when you want to:

* Capture a course idea the moment it comes to you, straight from your phone.
* Make quick edits — "shorten slide 3", "translate the safety module into Spanish" — without opening the web app.
* Send a photo or PDF from your phone and have the assistant work it into your content.

## Connect your Telegram account

1. In Skillsail, open **Settings → Agent channels**.
2. Click **Connect Telegram**. Skillsail shows an **Open Telegram** button with your personal connect link.
3. Open the link. Telegram opens a chat with the Skillsail bot — press **Start**.
4. The bot confirms the connection. You're ready to chat.

<Note>
  Connect links are personal, work only once, and expire after 15 minutes. If a
  link has expired, generate a new one from the same place in Settings.
</Note>

## What you can ask

Anything you would ask in the Skillsail web chat works in Telegram too. For example:

* **Create something new** — "Build a 5-slide onboarding module for new warehouse staff with a short quiz."
* **Edit existing content** — "Rewrite the intro slide of the fire safety module to be more concise."
* **Translate** — "Translate the customer service module into German and Spanish."
* **Send files** — attach a photo or PDF and ask the assistant to use it: "Turn this checklist into a module."

The assistant only works with content in your own Skillsail organization — the one your Telegram account is connected to.

## Using the bot in group chats

You can add the Skillsail bot to a Telegram group, for example a team chat where training ideas come up. In groups, the bot stays quiet unless you address it directly:

* Mention it by its username, or
* Reply to one of its messages, or
* Start your message with a command like `/ask`.

In a private chat with the bot, every message you send reaches the assistant.

## Disconnect or switch accounts

* **Disconnect**: open **Settings → Agent channels** and remove the Telegram connection. The bot stops responding to your messages until you connect again.
* **Switch to a different Skillsail account**: a Telegram account can only be connected to one Skillsail account at a time. Disconnect it from the current account first, then connect from the other account with a fresh link.

## Troubleshooting

* **The bot says the link is invalid or expired** — links are single-use and valid for 15 minutes. Generate a fresh one in **Settings → Agent channels**.
* **The bot says my Telegram account is connected to a different Skillsail account** — disconnect it in that account's Settings first, then use a new link.
* **The bot doesn't answer in a group** — make sure you mention it, reply to it, or use a command. Plain group messages are ignored on purpose.

## What's next

You can also use the assistant in Slack — see [Use Skillsail in Slack](/channels/slack). Support for Microsoft Teams is on the way.
